Used Books New Start is a national corporate book drive aimed at enrolling Canadian businesses and their staff to donate used books for remarketing and subsequently funding Canadian and international literacy organizations.
Many people have books at home that simply gather dust and don’t provide any real value to its owner any longer. By reselling these books through on-line retailers such as BetterWorld.com, Amazon, EBay, etc. these used book become a renewed resource for another reader and raises much needed funds for worthwhile literacy organizations.
During the week of February 4th to 8th, 2008, we will be enlisting corporations throughout Canada to assist us in our corporate book drive. We will request the staff of these businesses to bring in their unwanted eligible books from home. At the end of the week long book drive, a representative of each office will ship the donated books to a central depot in Canada. From this point we will ship the books to Better World Books in Mishawaka, Indiana.
Better World Books will then remarket the donated books and up to 50% of the net proceeds raised will go directly to our literacy organizations. The books raised and funds generated by the Used Books New Start corporate bookdrive are independently tracked by Better World Books so that we know what measurable difference our campaign has made.
You can show your support by announcing your participation in our campaign with your employees. Each business in Canada has the potential to generate significant contributions of used books for this campaign. Each company counts in our goal of raising 1,000,000 books for global literacy charities. Register your company’s participation in this corporate book drive today!
